Bob Yablonski, Colonel, USAF (Ret) The George and Carol Olmsted Foundation is saddened to announce the loss of Robert Yablonski, former Executive Vice-President and Foundation Board member.  Bob passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19 at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia with his family by his side.  For more information, please read the full article.

Navy Releases NAVADMIN for Olmsted Scholar applicants for Class of 2011

The Navy has released its NAVADMIN with instructions for all active duty Navy line officers interested in apply for the Olmsted Scholar Program.  See the full article and access the attached file for the message.  Note that the ethics counseling requirement only applies to those applicants who are selected as Olmsted Scholars.

Two Air Force Olmsted Scholars Promoted to Colonel BTZ

Lt Col Dagvin Anderson, OSC 2000 (Brno, Czech Republic) and Lt Col Stacey Yike, OSC 2000 (Coimbra, Portugal) were both selected below the zone for promotion to colonel on the Air Force's recently released promotion list.  Anderson is currently the Director of Operations, 319th Special Operations Squadron, Hurlburt Field, FL and Yike is currently Commander, 338th Training Squadron, Keesler AFB, MS.  Congratulations to both Scholars on their latest career achievement!

Navy Vice Adm. William D. Crowder has been nominated for reappointment to the grade of vice admiral and assignment as Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information, Plans, and Strategy, N3/N5, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.  Crowder is currently serving as Commander, Seventh Fleet, Yokosuka, Japan.

USAFA Cadets Visit Africa - Olmsted Foundation provides Cultural Immersion

This article appeared in "Zoomie News" on 12/12/07, a publication of the Association Of Graduates.  It highlights the travel and cultural immersion opportunities funded by the Olmsted Foundation at the three Service Academies.  The goal is to give cadets and midshipmen a "foretaste" of a possible Olmsted Scholar experience down the line.

Foundation Outreach to VMI Cadets and Army ROTC Marshall Award Winners

Admiral Larry Marsh, USN (Ret), OSC 68/Munich, Foundation President & CEO, traveled to VMI in Lexington, VA on 15 April to brief interested cadets about the Olmsted Scholar Program (OSP).   Major Allen Pepper, USA and OSC 2002/Strasbourg, accompanied the admiral at VMI and later at Natural Bridge where he shared lessons on his Olmsted experience in Strasbourg with the Marshall ROTC Awardees.
