Light the Night Fundraiser in Honor and Memory of Bob Yablonski For the second consecutive year, The George and Carol Olmsted Foundation is sponsoring a team that will walk in the "Light the Night" celebration. This annual event is in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and the Foundation Team will again be walking in honor and memory of Bob Yablonski. This year the walk will take place on the evening of Saturday, October 2, 2010. The walk takes place at the Reston Town Center in Reston, Virginia, begins at 7:00 PM and covers a distance of 2.8 miles. It is a leisurely stroll for persons of all ages. We will gather as a team beginning at 5:00 PM when registration and sign-in for participants begins. The Foundation will host a pre-walk gathering, near the town center fountain, for registered team members that will include sandwiches, soft drinks, water and camaraderie for all. We plan to walk as a group and wear t-shirts identifying us as members of the Olmsted Foundation Team and walking in memory of Bob Yablonski. We encourage all members of the "Olmsted family" to sign up, become a member of the "team" and participate if able. Alternatively, you can go to the Olmsted Foundation website, www.olmstedfoundation.org ,and access "Scholars Corner", then click on the "Light the Night Walk" link to register with the LLSYou can contribute on line and the minimum donation to participate as a walker is $25.00 per person. You can also solicit sponsors and raise donations as a walker. Last year the Olmsted Team raised just over $3,000, and our goal for this year is to raise $5,000 for the LLS, in Bob's honor. Once you have registered as a team member, please let us know via e-mail at The Foundation at scholars@olmstedfoundation.org and include your t-shirt size. You can also contribute to this worthy cause through the team link even if you are unable to physically attend and participate the evening of the walk.
