How to Apply to Participate in the Overseas Travel and Cultural Immersion Program

The following are general application procedures for the Olmsted Foundation funded Cadet and Midshipman Overseas Travel and Cultural Immersion Program. The Foundation provides financial resources and serves as a coordinating and oversight organization only. The actual awarding of funds, itineray approval and program execution does not take place through the Olmsted Foundation, but rather through the appropriate staff and program office at each participating institution.

Funding for the calendar year is determined by the Olmsted Foundation Board of Directors at their semi-annual fall Board meeting the year prior to execution. Each institution then accepts proposals for travel and/or applications by individuals to participate in the program administered by that particular school or organization. Participation in the program is very competetive and only those Cadets and Midshipmen that are determined to be of the highest caliber are chosen to for the program. See the Overseas Travel and Cultural Immersion Program section for more detailed information and guidance.
