Olmsted Board of Directors Meet in Colorado Springs Posted: Dec 10, 2007 | Posted By: Dave Estep
The Board of Directors met at the US Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, on 18 - 20 October as guests of Lt Gen John Regni, USAF, Superintendent of the Air Force Academy. The purpose in gathering outside of Washington was to give Board members the opportunity to interface directly with Air Force Academy officials and to obtain feedback of Foundation sponsorship of cadet summer overseas travel and cultural immersion trips.
Associated with the Board Meeting was a Dinner/Assembly Dinner of Scholars in the Colorado area on Thurday evening at Doolittle Hall in the AOG Building. A group of about 40 Scholars, spouses, and AOG guests gathered for an enjoyable evening with dinner and update on Foundation activities. Fortuitous timing permitted most members of the Board to observe the USAFA/Wyoming football game on Saturday, 20 October. Air Force beat Wyoming 20-12 on an absolutely spectacular fall afternoon in the shadow of the Rockies.
During the game, a check for $310,000 was presented by Foundation Chairman of the Board, BG Tony Smith, USA (Ret) and Board Member, Gen Butch Viccellio, USAF (Ret) to Academy representatives, Lt Gen John Regni, Academy Superintendent and USAFA AOG President, Col Jim Shaw, USAF (Ret). This grant will be used to help fund Cadet overseas travel and cultural immersion programs at USAFA.
