The purpose in gathering outside of Washington was to give Board members the opportunity to interface directly with Air Force Academy officials and to obtain feedback of Foundation sponsorship of cadet summer overseas travel and cultural immersion trips.

The purpose of the program is to provide designated Olmsted Scholars as liaison officers between the Foundation and select military installations, education and training institutions, and university ROTC programs for all four military services.
